Don’t Buy A Double Jogging Stroller Without This 7 Key Point Review
February 15th, 2009, Posted in jogging strollerFor those active moms and dads out there, there are athletic double stroller options for those who like to get in a brisk walk or active jog with their twins or similarly-aged kids. This article will explore a few of the jogging stroller options.
Most importantly, here are 7 key areas that you want to be sure to focus on when considering all your options:
-sturdiness
-weight (for putting it in and out of the car)
-safety
-carry options for accessories and supplies
-colors
-swivel ability
-comfort for you and babies
Let’s start by looking at a couple of the many stroller options to see how they stack up to this list.
InSTEP has a Suburban Safari Stroller that is decent on function, but perhaps not the best looking option out on the market. It comes in ten colors. It has the single-wheel front wheel (also known as a swivel wheel, common in a jogging double stroller). The wheels are air-filled. It offers an under seat cargo basket. It holds up to 100 pounds of weight, and the stroller weighs 34 pounds. The chassis is made of aluminum. This is a pretty good package and can typically be found for under $200. In the world of the double stroller, that’s not a bad price.
BOB is another popular single stroller name, and you can be sure that they have a stroller for your twins as well. The Revolution Duallie Double model also has the larger air-pumped wheels. Though available in just two colors for this year’s model, one neat feature is the suspension system that has a three-inch shock range. This will smooth out the bumps in the road which translates to an easier ride for your twins. The BOB double stroller also has a large amount of tasteful optional accessories. A large handlebar console can hold beverages. A Car Seat Adapter can give you a seat-to-stroller attachment. A Sun, Wind and Insect Protector reduce heat and glare in addition to reducing UVA/UVB rays by up to 65%, according to the company literature. And An optioal diaper bag clips directly to the stroller as well.
One note on the air-filled tires. For those who are in a harsh climate, especially those with prickly rocks, cactus, thorns or needles in their jogging paths, also do consider the difference in tires. Some of these strollers have air filled tires while others are plastic. If you come across a thorn and POOF, there goes the air out of your double stroller front tire, that could make for a long walk back home. A good quality bike shop will be able to fill your stroller’s air tires with some goop or thick liquid that seals any punctures and will keep that air tire right on rolling.
